'Cornus'
Flowering Dogwood |
|
Dogwoods can soften the vertical lines of a
small home or provide a background for other
plants such as azaleas. In time, this can
lend a strikingly horizontal impact to the
landscape, particularly if some branches are
thinned to open up the crown. Trees grown in the
sun grow slower, branch more, and are more
compact than shade-grown trees. |

'Prunus Blireiana'
Flowering Plum |
|
Fragrant, one inch, pink
flowers appear in early spring followed by
purple foliage which turns green by
mid-summer. Flowering Plums seldom produce
fruit due to a lack of pollinators when they
bloom. The is a small deciduous tree which
will only grow to a height of 15-20 feet,
with a 15 foot spread. It blooms best in
full sun but will tolerate partial shade. |
